4-Week Intensive Boot camp in Filmmaking (Residential)
This is a 4-week intensive course designed to give you a solid foundation in the key principles of filmmaking. You will be introduced to screenwriting, directing, producing, cinematography and editing using industry standard software and filming equipment.
You will work on several short film projects and by the end of the course, you will write, direct, produce and edit your own short film. Once you have achieved your “Hero” status, you can progress onto our BA in Film.
The Accommodation
The programme includes 30 nights stay with breakfast in an nice hotel fitted with A/C, tea & Coffee facilities, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the Raindance Film School.
Raindance Film School Mexico is located in Mexico city, in the heart of the film industry of the country, Churubusco Studios complex. Mexico city is filled with culture and art, plenty of museums and a great variety of places to go, so there is plenty to do after work and during weekends.

What will I study on the course?
Week 1 – Pre-production and screenwriting
Learn how to write and create a short film script. Discover how to create compelling characters and write believable dialogue.
Once your script is written start the planning process of how you are going to execute your short. Consider locations, casting and shooting strategies.
Week 2 – Cinematography, camera techniques and working with actors
Work with a professional cinematographer. Experiment with lenses and lighting.
You will also work with actors and learn how to extract great performances.
Week 3 – The Shoot
During this week you will shoot a short film. You will work with your collegues on the 4 Week Acting certificate. All participants will rotate through each of the crew positions: directing, camera, sound, and assistant director.
Week 4 – Editing and post-production
Participants will work in teams with a professional editor. Learn how to assemble the rushes combined with sound and music. The finished shorts will have titles and a rear-title credit roll with your name. The finished films will be screened on the final day. Particiapnts will be able to take a copy of the finished film with them to add to their protfolios and showreels.

The course runs Sunday to Thursday from 10.30am – 5.30pm over 4 weeks (20 consecutive weekdays).

After completing the certificate, students will be sufficiently trained to start working on their own film projects.
Upon successful completion and approval, students who wish to do further studies can progress onto the Raindance HND Level 5 Diploma in Film. Please note, you must be proficient in English and demonstrate the ability to study at level 5 to be considered for our HND programmes. This will be assessed during the course.
Do I require a Visa?
Visitors from all over the world can enroll on a short course of 30 days without a visa. You would probably be asked for the enrollment document or acceptance letter from the school. Please contact us with any questions on visa requirements.

Ozcar Ramírez
Ozcar is a producer, director and founding partner of Arte Mecánica, one of the leading companies in the development and production of auteur films in Mexico. He is a member of ACE Producer’s Network, EAVE Network, Transatlantic Partners and is founder of the Union of Producers in Mexico. He has produced thirteen feature films, both fiction and documentaries, which have been part of the Official Selection of prestigious festivals around the world -including 6 of the 15 Class “A” Festivals-, several short films and an omnibus series directed by renowned directors such as Gaspar Noé, Doris Dörrie, Vincent Gallo, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Carlos Reygadas, among others. Some of his most recent productions include Sergio Umansky’s 8 DE CADA 10 (Mayahuel Award for Best Actor and Best Actress and Press Award for Best Film, Guadalajara Festival), LA 4A COMPAÑÍA, by Amir Galván and Mitzi Arreola ( Jury, Mayahuel for Best Actor, Guadalajara Film Festival; winner of 10 Ariel Awards, including Best Film), CARGA SELLADA, by Julia Vargas Weisse (Jury Prize, Goa Film Festival, Bolivian representative to the Oscar Awards 2016); DÍAS DE GRACIA by Everardo Gout (Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival, Best Director at the Guadalajara Film Festival, Winner of 8 Arieles, including Best Debut Film) and the documentary feature films CICLO by Andrea Martínez Crowther (Prize of the public, Vancouver Latino Film Festival). Claudia Cosio
Graduated from the Filmmaking career at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC) from the National University of México (UNAM) specialized in Film Production. Previously, she studied Film Appreciation at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Cinematográficos (CIEC) of the University of Guadalajara. Her first college degree is a Bachelor in Communication Sciences and Techniques from Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA). In 2009, she was selected among thousands of applicants to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus #7 in Berlin, Germany. She has worked as a producer, executive producer and production manager in more than ten fiction feature films and short films, as well as documentaries:
